Original Medicare explained
The hospital side and the medical side, laid out with what each one leaves for you to pay.
From your first enrollment to a yearly checkup on the plan you already have, here is where I can step in.
/ What I do /
Pick the one that matches where you are today. Most reviews end up touching several of them before the end.
The hospital side and the medical side, laid out with what each one leaves for you to pay.
Policies of the same type carry the same benefits, so I line them up by price and insurer.
Each doctor and clinic you rely on is confirmed before a plan reaches your shortlist.
Every medicine you take is checked against each drug list and priced at your pharmacy.
I map out when you can join, change or leave a plan without running into a late penalty.
Plans shift every fall. I read your change notice and point out what affects you.
/ Two main paths /
Most choices start here. Drug coverage can join either path, and I walk through it with you once it is clear which one suits your care.
| What to weigh | Original Medicare with a supplement | A Medicare Advantage plan |
|---|---|---|
| Seeing doctors | Any doctor across the country who accepts Medicare. | Usually a local network, and some plans ask for referrals. |
| Prescriptions | Added through a separate drug plan. | Often built right into the plan. |
| Monthly premium | A premium for the supplement plus one for the drug plan. | Some plans carry little or no extra premium. |
| Costs at the visit | The supplement picks up most of your share. | Copays and coinsurance apply, up to a yearly limit. |
| Care while traveling | Works with Medicare providers nationwide. | Often limited to emergencies outside the service area. |
| Changing later | A new supplement may ask health questions first. | Changes happen during set enrollment windows. |
/ Inside every plan /
Plan summaries highlight the good parts. These are the details I dig out before any plan earns a spot on your list.
/ Before you start /
A few things people like to know before their first review. Anything else, write to me through the contact page.
I gather your doctors, medicines and pharmacy, compare the plans sold in your area, and explain how each one treats your care.
Yes. I check it against your current care and the notice of changes, then tell you whether staying put still makes sense.
Not at all. Plenty of people come to me unsure. Sorting that out is part of the review.
Of course. A son, daughter or friend is welcome, and I keep the explanations easy to follow for everyone.
Then I show you the paths that keep that doctor available, along with what each path costs.
